In recent years, we have evolved from a locally based Hampshire charity to providing services across multiple UK police force areas. This is an exciting period for our organisation as we continue to expand, now offering interventions in new regions, including London.

The role

Job title: CARA Practitioner (2x posts)

Working Hours: 22.5 hours (0.6FTE) including workshop delivery on Saturdays (full time hours can be considered for the right candidate)

Starting Salary: Band 6 – £25,709 – £28,921 per annum (15% London Weighting applies to those living in London)

Contract: 2 year fixed term (possible extension)

Base: Remote with delivery and travel across London areas of Haringey, Enfield, Waltham Forest, and Newham

Hampton Trust (HT) is delighted to be leading a CARA (Cautioning and Relationship Abuse) pilot in London with Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) and Metropolitan Police (MET). This is an exciting opportunity to join the Hampton Trust team as a practitioner delivering CARA across London areas of Haringey, Enfield, Waltham Forest, and Newham.

Key responsibilities:

  • Complete needs and risk assessment with CARA referrals, working collaboratively to overcome barriers to maximise intervention impacts
  • Deliver CARA workshops across North Area and North East Basic Command Unit (BCU) districts on Saturdays as well as 1:1 and virtual delivery to clients as required
  • Engage and motivate participants through motivational interviewing techniques
  • Deliver sessions in a person-centred, flexible approach while following CARA manual sessions and planning

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in working frontline with people affected by domestic abuse, including those who cause harm and who are harmed
  • Experience in group work and facilitation with well-developed communication skills with a range of audiences
  • Strong organisational skills, including planning and time management
  • Strong computer literacy and experience with database use and reporting
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently
