  • Job Title:                       CARA Sessional Facilitator

  • Salary:                             £22.28 per hour
  • Delivery Sites:              Hampshire, Dorset, West Midlands, Cambridgeshire, and Norfolk (Please specify which area you are applying for in your application)
  • Contract:                          Zero Hours

About the role

If you are looking for a new challenge and want to be part of delivering an innovative response to tackling domestic abuse, then this could be the role for you. This is an exciting opportunity to join Hampton Trust and take a key role in delivering CARA (Cautioning and Relationship Abuse) in Hampshire, Dorset, West Midlands, Cambridgeshire, and Norfolk.

CARA was originally developed as a partnership between Hampton Trust, Cambridge University and Hampshire & IOW Constabulary. It targets Standard Risk domestic abuse offenders, offering two domestic abuse awareness raising workshops as part of a Conditional Caution issued by police. CARA has expanded nationally and continues to grow.  In 2023/24 1023 participants completed CARA and 90% of those reported CARA had made a positive impact on their motivation to change their behaviour. To learn more, visit our dedicated website: projectcara.org.uk

We are looking for skilled practitioners who have experience in delivering group work, a knowledge of domestic abuse issues and an aptitude and ability to engage individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds. Full training will be given, providing opportunities to develop and hone skills in motivational interviewing and to see the powerful impact of group work. Hampton Trust has a strong ethos of supporting staff to develop skills and competences ‘on the job’.

Workshops are delivered on a Saturday. You will be required to be available 9am-4pm on the days you are booked to deliver CARA.

We are currently looking for candidates to join our existing pool of skilled and experienced facilitators. Facilitators are generally recruited for one police force area (i.e. Hampshire) and can put themselves forward to cover delivery in other areas if required as the need arises. CARA delivery sites are:

  • Hampshire: Southampton, Eastleigh, Cosham, Basingstoke, and Newport (IOW)
  • Dorset: Bournemouth
  • West Midlands: Birmingham, West Bromwich, Coventry
  • Cambridgeshire: Huntingdon (& potential for Peterborough)
  • Norfolk: Norwich, Great Yarmouth

There is no requirement to be available each week, instead we are looking to recruit a pool of facilitators who will be scheduled to deliver CARA Cohorts subject to their availability and proximity to the delivery sites. In addition to the hourly salary, reasonable mileage and expenses attached to delivery will also be provided. Facilitators will be required to commit to a minimum delivery of 2 cohorts (4 workshops) per year.

Please note as part of the selection process, all successful applicants will be required to attend CARA Facilitator Training. We have provisionally identified the following dates for training: 20th to 22nd March 2026 with two additional virtual evening sessions to be scheduled. In person training will take place in Southampton (venue to be confirmed) and travel will be required for facilitators based outside of the area.

We welcome applications from candidates who are fluent in an additional language and who would be interested in additional training for delivery of the CARA Telephone Intervention (CTI).

Apply now and be part of our mission to deliver impactful interventions and support those affected by challenging circumstances. Please see the Job Description and Person Specification for further details. We encourage growth and self-awareness within this post.
